The National Network for Children Recognizes Companies with Sustainable Policies Supporting Children
UniCredit Bulbank has renewed its national “Child-Friendly Company” certification, awarded by the National Network for Children in recognition of the company’s commitment to the well-being of children, young people, and their families.
By successfully completing the recertification process, the bank reaffirms its long-term commitment to supporting younger generations and fostering a supportive environment for employees and their families. The certification recognizes employers that integrate care for children and families into their corporate culture and strategic ESG policies. UniCredit Bulbank first obtained the certification in 2021.
“The ‘Child-Friendly Company’ certification is much more than a recognition—it demonstrates that companies are thinking strategically about their development and the future of society. When businesses invest in supporting employees, families, and the development of young people, they create a sustainable environment both for companies and for children. What is good for business is also good for children—sustainable companies build resilient communities, support working parents, and create more opportunities for young people to grow and remain in Bulgaria,” said Georgi Bogdanov, Executive Director of the National Network for Children.
UniCredit Bulbank is part of the pan-European UniCredit Group, which serves more than 15 million customers across Europe. The company pursues a consistent social responsibility agenda with a strong focus on education as a key factor in improving the quality of life of children and families.
“We accept this certification as recognition not only for the institution itself but for the entire UniCredit Bulbank team, whose dedication drives a wide range of initiatives supporting young people and education—from school lectures and mentoring programs to long-term partnerships with leading organizations in the field of education. For us, this certification is also a responsibility to continue building on these efforts so that we can truly be a friend of children and a bank for Europe’s future,” said Tsvetanka Mincheva, Chief Executive Officer of UniCredit Bulbank.
Supporting Education and Youth Development
UniCredit Bulbank views education as a strategic investment in the future and supports initiatives aimed at developing young people’s skills, preparing them for the labor market, and ensuring equal opportunities for all children.
Through the UniCredit Foundation, the bank creates opportunities for growth by managing several pan-European programs, including Call for Europe, Call for Education, and Edu-Fund, which support the education and development of children and young people across the countries where UniCredit operates.
Among the company’s strategic partnerships are collaborations with organizations such as Teach For All and Junior Achievement, which help students develop essential skills and an entrepreneurial mindset.
Volunteering and Community Support
An important part of the bank’s commitment to children and young people is UniCredit Bulbank’s volunteer network, which includes more than 70 employee volunteers. They deliver financial literacy training and support educational initiatives in schools and local communities.
The company also implements a number of charitable initiatives, including:
- Charity bazaars before Easter and Christmas;
- The KIDS4KIDS Christmas fundraising campaign;
- Blood donation drives;
- A donation program providing equipment and technology to schools, community centers, and educational organizations.
These initiatives aim to improve educational environments and create more opportunities for children’s development.
