Lidl Bulgaria Renews Its “Child-Friendly Company” Certification with the Highest Possible Score

Lidl Bulgaria has renewed its “Child-Friendly Company” certification for a new three-year period, achieving the highest possible score and reaffirming its long-term commitment to children, young people, and families in Bulgaria.

The National Network for Children (NNC) has awarded Lidl Bulgaria the national “Child-Friendly Company” certification for the second time. As the first company ever to receive the certification, Lidl Bulgaria’s successful recertification confirms its sustainable policies and measurable impact in support of children’s well-being—both through initiatives benefiting employees and their families and through programs aimed at the wider community.

“Lidl Bulgaria’s recertification demonstrates that when a commitment to children becomes part of a company’s long-term strategy, the results are sustainable and create a real impact on society,” said Georgi Bogdanov, Executive Director of the National Network for Children.

Developed by the NNC, the “Child-Friendly Company” certification is the first standard of its kind in Bulgaria, recognizing employers that integrate children’s rights and well-being into their corporate culture and ESG policies. The assessment is based on an independent audit and evaluates the overall impact of companies—from their internal employee policies to their contribution to local communities.

Among the key highlights of Lidl Bulgaria’s assessment were its investments in youth development programs, which reached more than 470 young people in 2025, its support for working parents through employee benefits and access to educational resources, and its initiatives promoting conscious nutrition and responsible communication with children.

“Being recognized as a ‘Child-Friendly Company’ with the highest possible score is a tremendous acknowledgment of our daily efforts. We believe that children’s well-being is closely linked to a supportive and secure working environment for their parents, informed food choices, and opportunities for young people taking their first career steps. The National Network for Children’s assessment motivates us to continue building on our efforts so that we can provide even greater support to our employees and their families, as well as to the thousands of young people exploring their future through platforms such as Lidl Career Up,” said Milena Dragiyska, Chief Executive Officer of Lidl Bulgaria.
